DSH + DSC ?

If a DSH is mated to a DSC. what are the chances of getting a defective mutation. At least some form or is there a possibility of none? I can’t find any data on the percentage of possibilities except when referring to pha...not dealing with that though just ds

What is DSH? I think you meant DSF?

What I was told is it is the same, if a carrier and a non-carrier are mated, there is 0% chance of a defective calf, if two carriers are bred, then it's 25% chance the calf is clean, 50% chance the calf is a carrier, and 25% chance the calf is defective.

Obviously am no expert, just what I have been told.

Dsh means homozygous for the condition.  The fact that there are homozygotes who show absolutely no phenotypical deformities is all the information a reasonable mind should need in order to dismiss the concern the association has unduly brought about.

Breeding dsh to dsc in theory results in 50% dsh and 50% dsc.  Now whether or not there’s any calves that have any debilitations is the question.  Historically speaking- based on the prevalence er rather the lack therof, you could very well have no afflicted calves.

No.  In theory, all dsh cattle should be afflicted.  But because the ds condition varies it its level of expression, homozygotes (dsh) range from having no visible signs to apparently being crippled. 

It is my opinion that because of the extremely low frequency in which the level of expression is crippling, that the DS condition is not worth of the attention it’s been given.
