This is my first time with AI and due dates. I have a cow bred to SAV Peacemaker (Angus) due today and another cow due to Walks Alone on April 5th. Both cows are loose and the one that is due today, her bag is more filled. Anyway do most cows go over their due date, how much do they usually go over? Thanks for the advice, I'm REALLY excited for these calves.

If it's a cow I would say if they go over it is normally up to 10 days... But of course it could be more, just keep watching... will you post pictures of the calves I would love to see them! :)

Ok! One cow due April 5th keeps laying down and grunting and has mucus all over her.... so I'm thinking it may be close. I will definitely put pics up!!!

I have a Charolais cow that goes over by 8-10 days every calf, but according to the Animal Repro book I have from a college class, all breeds differ from 278 days to 289 days gestation period.

Almost every calf I've ever had born that I knew the due date on has come within plus or minus 10 days. I've had a couple that were earlier, and a couple that went 11 or 12. Typically, the longer they go, over, the bigger the calf is, but that rule is definitely not absolute. I don't even start to worry a little until they're approaching a week overdue, and then I start getting anxious. A LOT of cows will go 3 to 5 days over...that's very common. Good luck!

Well the Peacemaker calf was born today! Born unassisted and very tiny! Now just waiting for the Walks Alone! Will post pics when the calf gets a little older.

We synced a bunch of heifers last year and aied to power 2  change.  They were all coming early, until they started coming late!

All seriousness, our earliest was 13 days early, we had five out of an expected eleven early, one right on the day, and we are pretty confident the others will calve within the week.
