Unfortunately it probably would have influence on the judges decision and that is why my family stays away from the steers. We show locally but not at the state level, and the biggest reason for that is politics. And there is no denying that who sold it, who owns it, or who is on the show stick makes a difference. I don't like politics and I sure don't have the cash flow to buy a seat at the top.

The statement above is my stance, Heifers and Steers! When we were showing, we won, fair and square. Those always trying to have us kicked out were the ones cheating, but wouldn't put in the work to win!

We've done better at State and National levels than we ever did at county shows, for pretty much the same reason.

Simple- The Golden Rule: The man w/ the most gold rules. That's life. Either accept your place in this world and go on w/ it...or... take the necessary steps to put yourself in the position you want to be in.

$50K - $60K, or even $100K doesn't always win!

We have good luck showing our heifers at the local and state levels, never been to a National Show personally, but my in-laws have been to Louisville a couple of times. I personally just love the heifers and don't put the time or money into steers. I love the breeding side of the cattle business, nothing is better to me than raising a kick butt heifer especially when she turns into a great cow.

Maybe not consciously but it has to weigh heavy on you if there's that kinda$ steer in the ring. I mean, I know I would second guess my placings if I found out one of them demanded that price. "A lot of people must of thought pretty highly of it to bring 60k." If it's real money, I would think the steer would have to be awfully specially to bring that.
