I've read on here about ppl using the Almanac's "best days"  for "cutting hair to encourage growth" on show cattle. Anyone with personal experience on this? Sounds interesting. Looks like Jan 2017 days are 2, 3, 30 and 31. Feb 3,4,27. Do you just pick a month and do it one time per winter? When "cutting" are you clipping the animal as if you were at a show or bringing the hair down much shorter to the body. From some old posts I read, results were quite positive. No specific directive on how they go about it though. Strange questions I'm sure but thought I'd throw it out there. Thanks

I always shear all the winter hair off on the best day of April because in Missouri it's usually cold until then. This is a good way to quickly get rid of the dead long hair and have a fresh start for summer.

Agree with sim farmer besides we are in Tx so it's a little warmer a little faster so we find the best preferred day after Houston (mid march) and down shear them leaving tail heads legs and belly hair with a set of cover coat blades
