What's the largest birth weight heifer you've ever kept for a replacement? I've kept some that were 102-105 and haven't had any issues if I've bred them to calving ease bulls - 85-90 pounds for the first calf and generally unassisted. I bought some Charolais cows last spring and one had a 117 pound heifer calf. I'm thinking this might be pushing the limit. The cow is older, but I bought her because she was carrying a heifer calf. Dam's BW EPD is -2.3 and the sire -0.6. I'm curious how high others have ventured to go and how it turned out for you.

We had a heifer have a 120 pound bull calf (with some assistance...), but that could have been because she was a Holstein Angus cross.. We don't usually have many heifers with high birthweight calves.
