Is it better for a heifer to be to deep or to tall. We have a bleedin purple heifer and she is really low to the ground. I will get some pics tomorrow but I am worried she may be to low.

Extra depth is almost always a good thing where extra height can be fine or bad.If you looked at both extremes, I would prefer a smaller, soggy type heifer to an extremely tall heifer with no guts if the smaller heifer was wide enough in her hip and didn't look like a dink. She would generally be a lot easier keeping. Now don't get me wrong, I'm a sucker for a larger framed heifer with a ton of body. In the showring, I have seen very moderate framed heifers be placed lower due to their height. Sometimes they look a little more market oriented and sometimes thety just get outdone by the heifer that is also really nice but is just a bit larger all over. I guess it just depends on the individual heifer. I think your pictures will really help everyone form an opinion as to if she is big enough.

So here are pics of the hefier, sorry they are not very good, I had to snap them quick after school as you can see i am still in my good clothes. She isnt trained very well at all so it was a bit of a struggle (lol). She is a bleedin purple out of a red maine cow. She is a January of 09 heifer, tell me what ya think.
