I thought I would bring this thread back up, since I am super happy about our results with this bull and his offspring. I was looking at the July/August copy of the Register, and noticed a little Optimizer heifer on the back cover in the Living Legacy ad. Pretty darn impressive! The two below are also sired by him. The first pic I took last night, in the pasture, of a June bull calf. Yes, he is just a June, and LOOKS THAT GOOD! We were going to show the pair at State Fair, but the cow came into heat right before leaving, so I chose to AI her and leave her at home. He was 82 pounds, out of a 5 year old cow that has had a calf every year and he is her smallest. And no he is not creep fed, but every now and then I will take a bucket to the pasture with me so I can get them up and get some pictures.
The second pic is our son's bred and owned heifer, a November born, that was 19th overall at Nationals (in Bred and Owned). I bought the pic, just waiting for Pearl to send my flash drive back to me (so I did not steal the pic!). She was out of a first calf heifer, who calved at 22 months old and the heifer calf was 50 pounds.
The thing I like best? They have the best darn docility of any cattle we have had born here! They are born practically wanting to follow you around everywhere!
Always good to hear about good Simmi bulls. I only wish he was purebred, but 3/4 is still good!
