  Nice heifer!! I think that Kaboom will become more popular as the years go by. He seems to be a very complete bull. We'll have to wait a few years to fully measure the females.

No, we sold him because someone wanted him. We made some money! (dont tell the IRS) (clapping)

Thats my son posting and my oldest daughter holding the halter. This heifer will be at Ft Worth for those interested in seeing her. We have one set of embryos left for sale. Email me if interested.

This is good to hear! Maverick's strongest suite is making good cows, so I think she'll work out nicely for you. We breed ours to Sonny bloodlines and they have raised some really deep, broody show heifers.

We had saome SS Kaboom semen and gave it away.

Inconsistent Birthweights, maybe? He's a good-looking bull, but, He's a COW KILLER. Personally, I am smart enough to avoid train wrecks, and, apparrently so is C-Cross. "Kaboom"is aptly-named, because, You'll have to euthanize your cow.
If you want "Venture" breeding, without dead calves, use "034" from Sneed&Lakeside.

Between him and radio Active we jhave never been so disappointed in calves.  And birth weight were horrid.  I don't have nay more and won't get anymore!!!

Y'uns all wonder why I "rant" about high birthweights and genetic defects? First-time experiences with Shorthorns should be POSITIVE for Newcomers. Instead, people have only NEGATIVE experiences when trying Us out, for the first time.

How many more people like C-Cross, are gonna have this same experience, before, We, as a breed, do something about it?

Wow, we have 3 calves out of him now and all have been under 80lbs and all are flat out awesome. In matter of fact when I did my research before using Kaboom I did not notice any high birtheights reported on him. Are we talking about the same bull? I am referring to the Shorthorn bull SS Kaboom bred by Schrag Shorthorns. His pedigree even indicates that he is a low birth weight bull.

Our herd sire is a 3/4 brother to Sonny and several people said he would be a train wreck. But actual proof is that we have not had a calf over 75lbs.

I have not used Radio Active because of the PHA issue.

SS Kaboom is TH Free and PHA Free. As I stated his birthweights for me and in research are very low. Maybe the cows should be scrutinzed that some breeders are using?

Birthweight = +1.0 (which is below the breed average and very good)

This is with 72 herds and 113 progeny.

Why don't we let C-Cross tell His/Her experiences, in detail? Perhaps, Shorthorn cows were not used, and the higher BW of the Shorthorn calf, combined with the often-times lower pelvic area of Black-based cows, works togwether to create a problem when folks decide to try a Shorthorn Bull for the first time.

EXACTLY.....72 HERDS........only 113 progeny. This tells me two things.
1.) Small herds breeding less than two females to him. The more larger the contemporary groups, the more accurate and meaningful data.
2.)These people probably bred three or four to him, and, aren't reporting the dead ones.
