I would love to get people input on what you use for lights around groom chute. Currently we have about three or four clamp lights but it doesn't seem to be enough light and it is hard to position correctly. I have seen the big cord lights also but it seems that everyone has problems at tear down time to put away. What is everyone using?

We use a 4 bulb florescent light fixture mounted to the top of chute.  Bought it at lowes and made 2 brackets to hang across the top bars.  Gives plenty of light without much shadow. Kept the box it came in to slide it back into before putting it in the showbox  for travel.

Currently using a trouble light with a 200 watt incandescent bulb in it.  The LCD light bars are starting to get affordable and might be a durable chute light system real soon.

I was just going to say look on EBay under the 100 different types of 120W or even 12V LED lights.  Mind blowing how much brighter they are.  Even the cheap Chinese ones so far have worked just fine.  I never buy them directly from China but find a company that imports them.  I've put them on hunting rigs, Rangers, tractors, you name it.  I picked up a set of 4 (6"x 6") LED lights ($70) that I'm working on making mounts to our chute and actually using a tiny ATV battery instead of going with 120W plug ins.  The LED lights draw nothing as far as WATTS and you could probably go a whole weekend or even more on a ATV Battery alone.

We use the same lights as jspring but we got them at Menards. We have them with 5 lights for one chute. When we have two chutes we use the string with 10 bulbs. We love them and use them at almost every show.

I like the concept but do they give enough light since they don't run the length of chute and what about head and rear?

We've developed these chute lights and have had some really good feedback from customers that have them. They are built to stand up to some abuse and are extremely versatile for many different uses! Handy Andy will be at the Michigan Beef Expo with sets on hand, plus he'll be dressing a few head under the lights so you can see how they are!
