I had some really good calves several years ago by DJ Data Bank.  (red, polled, purebred Maine)

Is this the bull?

She could use some more flex to her hind leg, don't know if he will do that judging by the picture.  Cool looking bull though, crazy how much the "ideal" has changed the past 20 years.

I believe that Fireman is a higher % Maine.  I know his sire is PB maine. His dam is 1/2 Charolais. He is THF/PHAF.

I suppose that is him, though the picture I remember showed him as being much, much deeper.  The calves I had sired by him were very moderate, heavy muscled, and showed some eye appeal.  There was another red bull from that time, I believe Emperior was his name.  I'll see if I can find photos of them somewhere.  I sold a son of Data Bank to a gentleman south of Des Moines and he showed and sold a ton of great steer calves out of him.  All the calves I had by Data Bank were sound on their feet and legs.  I've used quite a few fullblood and red purebred Maines over the years and got the most genetic kick from the fullbloods.  The Data Banks were the most attractive, though, and calving was not an issue.

As much experience with maines as Oakview has-and as good as his cattle are-if he says Data Bank will work-it will. And since his breeding efforts were directed at Shorthorns-they have to be even more structurally correct to compete. However there are a few red maines around-that are way proven-JDS Fireman-a solid red CE AND THICK  powerplant son used from the very early 90s by Rocker Bros-a very influential performance herd-He is still in alot of pedigrees at Jungles etc-Aegerter marketing has the semen  Arden Prehiem-Mexico Missouri- Has a currant (alive with cows) Red polled maine really producing on his Shorthorns-which are very thick and go back to fullbloods for 30 plus years,Mitch on here really likes him-Mitch has very good cattle.LLND Chili (around 1990-91) semen around-might have too much shoulder for some, GKB BasesLoaded-(sired by DJ Loaded)a solid red Fire Hydrant we had for awhile 2004-2005-very moderate EZ calver-I have semen on him-As far as the red gene DMCC (he produced him) LIFELINE is the red gene king-but still no guarantee. And what about Poplar Haven Red Alert? was he solid red? O0

the source of a low twist and no milk.

he is in most low milking maine bloodlines and was supposedly quickly discontinued once this was found out.

he was not solid red.  very few if any fullbloods in that era would qualify as solid red using angus requirements.  there may be one, but they were certainly the exception.

Artic Power was a red bull from mid 90's threw some powerful cows although bw was on the high side. Hercules is another red bull that has made some more commercial oriented cattle that do well. He's available through Hansen's in Saskatchewan. Seen some really good Gigolo Joe reds as well. And some good Special Edition reds.

I wish you luck with whatever you choose.  I find it somewhat ironic that we are searching for a red or red gene carrier bull within a "red" breed.

I have heard the same about Red Alert, no milk from the daughters.  I saw him at Hawkeye Breeders and thought he was one of the most stylish fullblood bulls I had ever seen.  He did have white legs.  We showed a daughter that was commercial champion at the state fair, but could never get her with calf.

Montego Bay and Moves Like Jagger are both PB Maines that are red gene carriers.

I was away from a computer for the past couple days.  Thanks for all the replies and messages,  I have a lot more options than I thought out there.

Oakview, it is kind of ironic that there are not many reds left in a red breed.
