had a calf die last year from bovine RSV (probably)... so I am trying the nasal vaccine this year... the vet gave me some little plastic cannullas to put in their nose... man they really don't like that... I am sure that they are blowing a big part of the dose out but there are lots of viruses in that dose so I am sure they are getting an adequate dose

I am using "Inforce 3" on my new born calves, I think it really helps.

usually the intranasal Modified Live Vaccine  are pretty good - usually IBR combined with PI-3
the main advantages is you some sort of protection with 3-4 days after inoculation; questionable interferon activation tho
it gives a quick boost, but usually immunity is not as long as injected MLV

i like to use it in show calves (7-9 month old)... give then the typical injectable MLV at/near/before weaning and then about 2 days before heading to a show give them the intranasal and seems to work pretty good
some problems people have had is giving an injectable MLV too soon after giving the intranasal;  the immunity from the intranasal blocks the  effects of MLV and then end up getting respiratory disease further down the road

as long as some of the product is getting up in the nose there will be some immunity -- head restraint and speed of delivery are key to proper application

When you give a dose of nasal type vaccine, make sure you push the syringe fast enough so it comes out of the cannula as a mist.  If you go slow it comes out as a liquid and they can blow a lot more out at you.  The cannulas are designed to make a mist when the product is delivered with enough pressure.
We have used the TSV-2 on our babies for many years and switched to the new ENFORCE 3 this year.  So far so good.

I've used them for the past two years on fresh weaned calves and have been very happy with the results. Easy to deliver and effective. The cannulas are given free with purchase of the vaccine.

Never used them but they're pretty common for horses. The tube is usually very long and goes up the nasal cavity fairly deep. If they react anything like horses after administering it, heads up!
