Well tomorrow is the beginning of a new stage of life, the youngest is off to Cal Poly. Between the time we have spent with baseball, working with the calves and his new found love (bass fishing) we have spent allot of time to gether, I think I'm going to miss the kid. Plus the fact I will be promoted to head lawn mower, dog, hog and cow feeder, waste management technician again.
He will be studying Landscape Architecture, and joining Bass Fishing Team. He bought a old boat when he was 15 and refurbished it, it is now about 28 years old and still works great.
We went out for one last fishing trip before he leaves on Wednesday afternoon, he cleaned my clock, he had 8 keepers and caught a 5 and a 6 ponder and ended with a over a 20 pound limit for 5 fish. He should do OK on the fishing team.

I think he will be fine, I just hope I am.

(2015) update
Well, he never had time to join Fishing team, but he is graduating this Saturday, this past Friday we went up for the Senior Project display and met some of his classmates, as well as heard some interesting stories, he was in with a good group of kids. I am very proud of him, 6 years total between JR College and Cal Poly but he stuck with it and did well.

Him and his buddies

Great photo, I use to argue you with my sister's bother (now brother-in-law) all the time about luck vs skill fishing.  I fished quite a bit, but would never consider an avid angler.  Her brother fished all the time, every night and occasionally tournaments on the weekend.  I told him fishing was more about luck than skill and he said luck is involved, but mostly skill.  We went fishing together and he changed my attitude, I got blasted.  He had a rig and color for every situation, I think he kept 7 poles with him at all times.

I have a very close relationship with my sons and I can already see the day you are experiencing will be here before I know it.  I bet you can still make time for those fishing trips.  But don't let him get homesick and come back.

Chambero, He is the analytical one,he has been going to the local JC for the past 2 years, the school was about an hour away from the house, he would have a 6 hour gap between classes on some days. He found where he could pick up the WI-Fi and would park there and do his on-line school work while he waited for his next class. Type of kid that comes home and does the home work first so he has time to goof off. He got in trouble in one on-line class because he was 3 weeks ahead, they told him you could not turn work in early, one week at a time.

He has been planning to go into Landscape Architecture since he was a Freshmen in high school, he stays pretty focused, so I hope he does not get homesick either.

How cool is that! I went to Cal Poly; got my BS in Vet Sci and my MS in Ag Education. Great college!!! The advisers are great, and living on the different units (swine, beef and sheep) taught me so many life skills! They have a great ag program.  I wish him luck! They did not have a bass team that I knew of when I went to school there, that that is neat he can do that.
They grow up so fast...
