New cattle venture?
« on: November 06, 2013, 05:47:23 PM »
Just got forwarded an email. The email is from an Indian family who just bought a new home. They are wanting to rent a cow to walk through their new home before they move in. In their heritage it is considered good luck. If nothing else it might be an interesting endeavor. Just found it funny being a person who hates it when cows get out of the fence and in the yard to even consider walking one through a home.

Just any old cow or a sacred cow?  I have a freemartin heifer keeps crawling into the bale feeder that probably wouldn't want to leave their house once she got in.

It's all new to me but there's nothing holy about our cow. They're supposed to have some kind of ceremony then walk the cow through. Hope they have good cleaning supply's is all I'm thinking.

I have had thoughts about having an Indian-Pakistany lottery where the winner would recieve a gas station: a Duncan Donuts franchise,or perhaps a motel. O0

I already thought of that but that will be the easy clean up. She drinks a lot of water compared to our others and pees like a race horse. That will take a big mop and bucket.

Just proving truth is stranger than fiction...had to check this out!

In the Hindu religion, a house blessing is conducted before the people move in. With a new house, this is after construction is finished, but in a purchased house it will be done after purchase but before moving in. The blessing is performed by a Hindu priest and varies greatly throughout India. In Gujarat, the blessing mainly consists of performing abhisheka to a murti, often of Lord Ganesha, which is performed by the householders while the priest chants mantras. In Tamil Nadu, the traditional house blessing comprises the chanting of mantras, the escorting of a cow through all of the rooms, and (finally) the boiling of some of the cow's milk in the kitchen. Cow urine (komiyam) is also used.[

Looks like if she pees a lot that is a good thing!  not laughing at the custom just the thought of a cow going in each room of the house.  Please video!!!
