So after being on feed for a year, its time that the old american steer heads into county, but before we show in 2 weeks, i would like to post a picture of him totally slicked out as compared to the picture of him at 90 days old after loosing his mother. Hoping to win the county american show 3 years in a row and this one has definatly come the distance from baby to now, to get it done. Please chime in and let me know what you think

Steer weighs 1410 in the picture

Don't know much about them but what impressed me when I looked at the enlarged picture is to amount of rib eye he has. That thickness behind the shoulder looks good compared to the few eared cattle I have seen. You have certainly have filled him out.  (thumbsup) (clapping) Not big on the colour.

You have done a really good job with this steer!  You know that early on I had concerns if he would be thick enough or have enough bone, but he has definately come on in that area.  I will tell you what he is, he is a big boned, structurally sound steer, that is big middled, easy fleshing, and has some product in him.  And from looking at these pictures, even though I havent actually got to put my hands on him, I would say he looks like he is finishing out well.  Now I will tell you what he isnt.  He isnt a super "pretty" steer and he isnt the most extended through that front 1/3 of his body.  For me he is the type of steer that works because I think product is more important than pretty, but some judges will be the exact opposite.  Regardless of how he places, you should be proud knowing you accomplished what many wouldnt be able to with this steer.

When is your show? Who is judging?

I think he looks really good, like Aussie said he is very good behind the shoulder. Good luck with him. You will have to post show pics hopefully of your 3rd County win.
