She's an Ali son x PB shorthorn. I just clipped her up today. I would like to see maybe a little more power but I love her front end, feminity, and depth of flank. I want y'alls opinion on her. She's an April calf and I'm pretty happy with her considering she's eating mostly silage and she was only $650 :)

She seems straight in her shoulder, I'd like to chane her skull, like her length of neck and spine

It may the way she is set up because her far front leg is way off than I wanted it. Also, I didn't have my chute so her head is not clipped. And for the record she is probably the soundest animal I have ever seen. Thank you!

Here's another pic. And, again, her head is NOT clipped. Thanks for your opinions.

hard to tell weight but looks like you bought her under sale barn price... did you buy her from your grandpa?

really like her length of body... if she can hold up that topline  and looks like she is in the pic

... I think she has plenty of power for a breeding heifer

nice heifer.. if you get tired of her I can prolly find a spot for her here

Thank you Jbzdad! I didn't get her from my grandpa, but my neighbor. He has an Ali son herd bull and a wide variance of club calf and purebred mamas. He sells everything at market price, but she is only vaccinated. When I got her and I had to break her, man she was nuts!! She jumped the fence and ran away 4 times before we finally got her addicted to the feed. Her grandmother, which the guy still owns, produced the third overall shorthorn steer a couple of years ago. For her price, I'm kinda likin her. Hopefully she will make a good mother!

those feet look like they really turn out?

Her feet do not turn out one bit. I already stated that she is 100% sound. Pictures are hard to see from, and i understand that. But if i am asking for opinions OTHER than her soundness (which I  know is perfect) i would appreciate that opinion. Thank you!! If i get a better picture i will post it.

I'm sorry.  I missed the part that said "I'd like opinions only if they match mine".  In these pictures her feet turn out, if they don't the the pictures are pretty poor.  The heifer is cool colored, but something about her front end seems off balance to me.  Maybe it's just the head not being clipped that makes something look off.

I don't want an opinion that matches mine. But if you read the previous comments, it states her definite features. For example: SHE IS 100% SOUND. secondly: SHE IS FEMININE. You do not need to second guess these definite features and I am not looking for an opinion that questions FACT. I do agree, however, that yes, it is an awful picture. It was taken from my phone and i did not spend but 45 seconds trying to take it. SO thanks anyways!

Out of curiosity why did you clip her body and not face, generally the head is the first thing to get clipped, kinda bass-akwards ain't it? Lol

I do like the color of her though, and she shouldn't be around long before she pays for herself!

Haha I know! I usually clip their heads first too. But my cousin is borrowing my chute for a few weeks so i had nothing to work with and she is still not that tame. Thanks for your opinion! :)

The head is the last thing we clip, usually the day before we leave for a show.

Many people have different opinions. I usually clip the head first to get an idea where i want the neck to go, which leads to the topline, which leads to the tailhead, and so forth. However, my cousin clips the head last as well and she is very good at clipping. Different strokes for different folks! Your heifer in your avatar looks very nice though and she looks to be clipped very well too!  :)

I always start at the tail and work my way forward. To me, it just follows the natural flow of things since we start washing, drying, and brushing from the rear and go forward.  You just do what works best for you, and make sure you get a little bit better every time!  It seems like every year I look back and it seems like I've learned at least one thing that just revolutionizes the way I do it. Always more to learn!

You've pretty much put the whole point of showing cattle in one statement. Besides making new friends, learning is the entire point! Well said!
