Just got our carcass data in for our calves born in Fall 07. We sent 82 calves (63 steers and 19 heifers) to a Nebraska feedlot - not very far from where Cowboy lives.

These calves are coming from "show steer" bloodlines. There are several Golden Child, Bold Statement, Dr. Who, and Kadabra calves in this bunch. Their individual results are right up at the top of the group. In fact, the highest performing heifer (based on total carcass price) was a red Golden Child heifer that was the second calf of the heifer in my avatar. Probably should have kept her for a replacement. The vast majority of the carcasses brought between $1500 and $1800.
Most were sired by our herd bulls which include a couple of Lifeline sons (6 calves), a Strictly Business son (15 calves), a Shamrock son (10 calves), with an old Chi-Angus bull and some Angus calving ease bulls thrown in.
I'm ecstatic with these results. This is our third year to get this level of data. Our past two, our biggest problem was ADG which were around 2.5. I had hoped to really improve that. We got rid of a couple of bulls and that seems to have at least been part of the reason for improvement.
I remember a couple of these calves being pretty bad on their front legs - toeing out, etc (a Golden Child and a Kadabra). I always wonder how much of a real problem that is. Didn't slow them down in the feedlot any for whatever that's worth.
