There is a man up in our area we call 'the professor' who's been breeding for panda cattle for years.  His 'gene manipulation' is cross-breeding...what cattle breeders have been doing for years.

centuries.  most ag people understand breeding is gene manipulation, but to allow the media to misuse the term is counterproductive.  can't really see that constantly reinforcing that these dwarfs come from a breed that is always trying to steer away from being called dwarfs can't be a little annoying to other lowline breeders, especially if they want to be know as a breed that doesn't produce dwarfs at a higher rate than other black cattle, which is admittedly low.  just wouldn't want to bring attention that they got it through a lowline.  they could have used hi-line angus just as well.  wonder what the fertility rate is and if in a few generations they will have mouse-lines.
