One of the comments here says that this bull is not the deepest bull in the world and not the heaviest boned. As I watched the video, I asked myself the question... is there such a thing as being too deep or too heavy boned?  I really like this guy. To me he looks sound, athletic, great rib shape, great muscle without going overboard, clean in his lower third. I know we can go too far in the selection of some other  traits, so my question is:  Can we go too far in selection of depth of body? Can we go too far in selection of bone ? I understand that we need lots of depth and capacity to ensure some easy fleshing ability, but like many other traits, is there an optimum place for depth of body as well? By going to extreme depth are we just adding more waste to the animal? I maybe should have started a new thread for this discussion, as I certainly don't want to take anything away from the discussion of what I think is a bull that has a tremendous amount of value to the industry.

Brad... I think you have a good one! If all the cattle we run looked like this guy, this business would be much easier. Congrats and best wishes for your success with him.

I think part of the lack of depth may be just the white on the underline, it makes him look shallower than he really is.  The depth question all depends on what you're breeding him to, for our cows that aren't Angus based, I would like to see him deeper, but if you're breeding to some cows with some depth, he is more than adequate.

We took a look at the video.  Pretty powerful.  thanks Zach!!  We hope to pick up some semen at the Ohio Beef Expo.  Looks moderate, stylish and thick.  Proof is in the pudding for our cows in 2010.

Brad,I hope he freezes for you early the way it sounds, you'll be needing to get some in the tank.

You'll be fine. Hey is it going to be hard to get My Turn juice this year if I can find a couple of cows to try him out on? Brent

Thanks Brad. The calves that we saw out of My Turn last fall were very good. I scared to buy any more juice @ this time. My wife doesn't care what's in the tank, she just cares about what my collecting habits are costing. She's been asking what sort of plague do I think is coming along that we need enough semen to breed all of our cows for the next 20 years? So far, I haven't been able to find a plausible answer to her damn questions. Here's to 09 being better than 08 for you Brad. Good Luck. Brent
