Anyone out there have any insight as to why you don't see much use out of the power drive clones ? Just seems to me you don't see or hear of much out of them ?

Dream on and his sons became the thing to breed to and part of that was because everyone was looking for something to breed their Power Drive cows to. Dream On was an outcross to Power Drive, Lucky Dice/Strike, etc that were popular in 2003. Power Drive also stopped freezing semen around 2003 which helped Dream On take off because people had to use something different due to Power Drive semen not being available. Triple C never promoted the clones that hard and just used them for inherd use. Maybe it was because the demand for Power Drive genetics had slipped some and not selling alot of semen was an effort to keep demand up for his calves. Maybe they don't freeze semen very well. I think the clone bulls selling price at the dispersal was a telling sign of why you don't see many of them, the demand just isn't there anymore in my opinion. Those bulls would have brought $$$$$$ in the early 2000s but by the end of the 2000s were less than $10k with the high seller around $7k or so best of my memory.

Maybe Power Drive is the solution as an outcross to Dream On. I think if they offered 5ml sexed Power Drive semen, then they could sell the fire out of it because his daughters as cows was what made Power Drive a great bull (which should be the mark of every great bull)

Doubt many people are passing the Clone calves off as the original because there just isn't many of the original or clone calves registered each yr.

We have been using power drive and joker on all of our cattle for a somewhat outcross calf. We have a great set of 1st calf heifers out of them right now

I think triple c's legacy will live on in herds everywhere so that is definitely not the answer ! What about using the power drive clone that's in the studs on dream on influenced females ? I would think the daughters produced would be valuable ?

Looks like Cattle Visions just started carrying the Power Drive clone. They have a picture of the original for reference. He won Denver in 2001.

Thanks Jeff for the sale reports, those are great. They sold worse than I remember but after the sale I thought I should have bought one of them for what they sold for. One was kind of crippled up best of my memory. Power Drive is the sire of some of the breeds greatest cows like Ebonys Joy, Chyna, Sheza Star, and many others
