These are the rules regarding show attire for our 4-H show:

All exhibitors should be neat and clean with their hair combed.
Shorts, hats (except cowboy), sandals, tank tops, T-shirts depicting drug, alcohol, tobacco products or containing inappropriate language are not allowed in the show ring.
No revealing clothing will be allowed at any time. (Example: shirt or blouse must be long enough to not show bare skin when exhibitor bends over).
Dress for conformation classes should be the same as for showmanship dress
Cows may chew cud, but you cannot chew gum

I always wear a long sleeve western shirt that is tucked in, a nice pair of jeans, a clean pair of boots, and a belt. I don't normally wear earrings because I have heard of judges placing girls lower because of them. I also think girls with long hair should have it pulled back and kept out of their face so that they can see the judge and concentrate on showing. I believe your clothes should not make you blend into the color of your animal, but they also shouldn't be so distracting that the judge is looking at you instead of the animal.

Here is what my son wore at a recent jackpot.  Sorry about the poor picture it was in a dark indoor and hard to get a good picture.  He really stood out in the pink shirt and black tie.  The black pants kind of blended into the calf.  Any suggestions?

I never have wore a tire before.  I stuck to a nice pair of jeans, boots, and either a short sleeve polo or a long sleeve button up.

do you realize you typed "I have never wore a tire before."  ? ;D I just couldn't let that one go by.

I think for this young man to wear a tie is unique.  I'd much rather see him overdressed than underdressed.  My mother-in-law always says when in doubt class up the joint.  I agree.
