If you could pick one place to have a sale, where would it be?  We have to exclude Denver and Louiville as we already have sales booked for there. Tell me where and why. RW

Maybe I should give a few more details. This will be a purebred sale that spotlights one particular dominating sire - All lots must be sired by this sire. Sale will include show heifers, bulls, embryos and pregnant recips, etc.

Isn't the Iowas State Fair a rather large RA show? Maybe someplace on their grounds, if they allow? Y'alls junior national isn't big enough yet to support it, is it?

I know of one RA sale that was held at Bruce Brook's facility in southern Oklahoma. Great place to have one, but not much draw from show or whatnot.

i agree with the person above that said you have to go where the crowd is....so the shorty's had a sale "in conjunction" with but not on "campus" with louisville....not sure of the results, but it seemed like a brillant idea to me...probably one of the largest gathering of shorthorn people by having it during naile, but alot less expense by having it "off campus"?????....and i believe it was not during a conflicting time with the other major events going on...there are some others that were actually there that could provide more info, but to me, it looked really good on paper...

That sale went quite well for Greenhorns at Louisville, if thats the one you are referring to. Maybe the same type deal at Louisville?

We are already putting a sale on in Louiville during the NAILE, so that is really not a viable option. We are gearing towards the end of October for a sale date. KC, MO -  Springfield, MO - Dodge City,KS and Stillwater, OK are some suggestions we have had. Keep the ideas coming. RW

RW - I would suggest Manhattan, Kansas. The sale barn (MCC) is one of the best places to have a sale. They are setup to accept cattle from anywhere. Just an hour and a half to the KC airport. Enough motel rooms. And most importantly there are plenty of bars in town.

you need to have the sale where there are a lot of people who want to let go of their money with no regard to return on investment.  I would suggest VEGAS baby.

If you are looking at the end of October you are going to run into the American Royal.  Would that be a problem since there is not a Red Angus show at the Royal?  Are you looking to have it in conjunction with a show or as a stand alone event.  If it is a stand alone event  the Springfield Missouri area would be a better venue lots of motels etc and on major arteries of traffic.  Is your draw going to be purebred breeders only or are you going to be looking for the commercial buyers are well?  That would also make a difference.

I would agree with Fred, the new Nebraska State Fair facility is TOP DRAWER!  In fact it is amazing.  Would be THE perfect place for a Jr. National or major sale.  Easy access, lots of good hotels and restaurants.  Central to the US.
