Would there be a market out there for a red simmy bull like this guy or should i steer him?  He's got some leather up front. He is a pb simmy out of both black outcross parents.

Why, I would surely think so! I know at least one guy who I wish I could send him to for ya! I know red cattle are worth more and easier to move in some parts of the country than in others...that's not our program, but there are progams where it shouldn't matter what color they are.

There is a market for him it just might not be as large of one as a black bull would have. I've always liked the red ones better myself but the feeder market favors the black calves around here. I keep a heterzygous black bull just to keep some of the reds around. Also have a red purebred bull calf from two black parents and he's really looking good now, I figure I'll Register him and take a dive looking for those red markets.

I don't know why there wouldn't be a market for him as a bull

Well heck might as well try it,  just seems red is real hard to move around here. He is solid colored though other than the white snip on his nose.

I couldn't even tell he had a snip on his nose...

I agree that red one's can be hard to move at times. But I also wonder about that guy who mighty drive up &'ask for a red bull! Can u imagine how hard it would be to FIND a good red Simmie bull in some areas now? I've been to a couple of sales down here the past few years where somebody came looking for a red bull & there wasn't one.

Good luck with him I wish we'd get to the place where it doesn't matter what color they are, but I guess as long as ppl sell em like a lot of people do, andas long as buyers wanna dock em for anything they can, this is how it's gonna be.

He looks like he'd be cool to go on a herd of commercial Red Angus...

I know it is kind of a hide colored biased world, which doesnt always seem right but thats how it goes. And yes he does have a white snip down by his nose on the other side.

Red Simmi's are becoming more popular...!!!    I prefer black for other reasons, but I do have some red Simmi's...and they're outstanding animals...

I think I would want to see him on the move.  The photo makes him look like he is not very flexible in the pasterns.  Based on photo only, which likely isn't very representative of the animal, I would make him a steer.

Your on the money with the growth comment Till Hill, growth numbers on him are great along with the milk epd. His momma has been here 9 years now and not leaving anytime soon. She's the old G&L Avalanche cow. Hopefully somebody needs a red!
