I need suggestions to get rid of ringworm on the nephews show heifer. I have been hearing Fluvicin (labels for horses) in paste form but all I can find is a crystal form. Any other suggestions? Or has anyone use the crystal form and how did you administer it? Thanks in advance

Do a search with the word Ringworm, you'll get more advice than you will care to read.
I would think that the "crystal form" could be mixed in a calf's feed. I personally like to put the Fulvison in a capsule so that I know each calf gets the correct dosage as prescribed by a vet.

We had really good luck using a wire brush to get rid of the scale and then spray it down good with Vetracin and rub it in. Took about 2 weeks to start seeing the hair come back. By far the easiest we have ever tried and very effective.

Just FYI -

Griseofulvin (Fulvicin) is illegal to use  in food producing animals. Also Extra Label drug use can only be performed via a veterinary prescription.

I think that you would have an extremely hard time getting it without going through a vet via prescript.

So if the vet approves the extra label use, then its safe in food producing animals??

Griseofulvin is illegal to use in food producing animals, period. The ban cam out a few years ago. it was being used extralabel in cattle and then it got banned from use in food producing animals. Some vets still have it and live in the past and use it - hence are breaking the law and could face legal action

any drug being used off label must be prescribed by a veterinarian stating its use/dose

the FDA has made some drugs illegal to use extralabel, meaning you have to follow the dose, route, and protocals on the bottle otherwise your breaking the law.
