So it is sale season, and my mail box is stuffed with sale catalogs. I find it utterly amazing what you can read in these catalogs! I mean really, what are some of these people thinking when they write this stuff?
I thought I would start a thread with all the crazy things you can find and read in a sale catalog. You do not need to mention the actual catalog, just the quotes!!
1. "A complete and total dispersal sale" then later in the same catalog "retaining semen interest to use in their herd" (hard to AI when you supposedly are selling completely and totally out)
2. "All cattle will sell as is, where is with no guarantees" and later in the same catalog "none of these cows will be pregnancy checked due to the closeness of the AI dates to the sale" AI dates: May Sale: Mid Sept. (that 4 mos!! - can they not preg check or what?)
3. "Tremendous female that has unfortunately lost her calf the last few years..." (I'm at a loss of words over this one!)
4. "The commercial cattleman do not need to worry about defects" then later in the catalog "these heifers are being sold without registration papers because the are potential defect carriers...." (Aren't heifers without registration papers commercial?)
5. "These two heifers are sired by the most popular bull XXX, and should be in your trailer when headed home." (Only 2 head of out 150+ head offered were sired by that popular bull)
Can anyone add to this list?
