Tell me about show coat and melatonin and how to use them for best possible results please. Will be going on simmental heifers. I want to use melatonin pills. Calves are being rinsed once a day. Am currently building a water cooler for rinsing. Calves are also in a dark barn under fans and ministers brushing the heck out of them. How can I use showcoat dresscoat and volumax along with melatonin pills to my best advantage? Thanks

Melatonin will work against the Show Coat. Melatonin implants do work a little better, but the hair has a definite expiration date with melatonin.

Wash, dry, and spray in the Show Coat. Work it in good with a comb and scrub brush. Do not blow the Show Coat in. Let the show coat dry under fans. After its dry, you can use a blower if you want. I personally just work the hair a lot with a comb and scrubber. We use Volumax usually twice a week. Put an ounce or two in a fogger and fill with water. Fog calf with all of the contents of the fogger. Do not wet the calf first. I use dress coat usually in the evenings, especially if the hair needs a little extra boost to it.

It takes abut a week to make a noticeable difference, but really picks up after 3 weeks or so.

No if you're targeting for a specific show they work well in tandem

If you're like us in tx where we have 3 majors 3 different months you'll have em extra hairy at ft worth and they'll be bald at houston because the melatonin effect burns up after their hair cycle starts to re set

So my last show before kansas city is missouri state fair. We have several shows to hit between now and state fair, so would it be better to use them in tandem?

We've tried them all and Shag works best for us in SE OK.  We've used it on heifers and steers
