Before I start, I am waiting for our vet to call me back.
We got my daughter’s steer about 3 weeks ago. About a week in, I noticed he had a cough- nothing terrible just enough to notice. He’s also had a little bit of thick white snot on and off- not constant. Fast forward to today- he only ate about half his feed from this morning- he’s been cleaning the feed pan. No snot and the cough is the same but I took his temperature and it is 104.2. That being said, it’s hot as hell here- my outside thermometer said 99 and it feels hotter than that. So- should the temp worry me or not because of the heat? He is acting normal other than the not eating all his feed. We didn’t work him hard this evening- just rinsed and let him back in his stall with the fan still going. He did go to his feed and eat a little bit when I took his halter off. So......what would you do???

Vet just called, he’s getting me Baytril and Banamine. We went through this last year- he recommends giving the Baytril in the folds of skin near the tail head, which I hate because it looked awful last time for about 2 weeks. Not looking forward to the shots!
