Howdy all!

I'm looking for some extra opinions on a couple bulls. Wanting to add depth of body, looking to make show heifers. If you have any other suggestions, fire away. I'm also looking for bulls with sexed heifer semen available, so that narrows it down a bit. Thanks in advance!  (thumbsup)

Anyone?

HPF Quantum Leap-

Montecito will make them pretty, but they lack grow. They make good cows later, but just take a long time to catch up with their contemporaries...
I have not used QuantumLeap, but have seen him person. I, personally, would not use him based on what I saw (I know, he won some shows). He has a great foot, and good structure, but, for me, lacks the "umph" that a bull needs. He was used a ton, but not a lot out there running the show circuit by him. The ones that have made it to bigger shows look really good. But, I would rather buy a good one by him then waste several trying to get one with AI.
Just my own personal opinion. Have you looked at Shell Shocked? We are sampling some of him this spring, hope to get a few bred to him. Different pedigree and his sister and dam look really good.

Again, Optimizer is awesome! We just weighed our June bull sired by Optimizer today, and clipped him for a little show next weekend. He was 1180.... not bad for 11 month old! Our heifer by him is PHENOMENAL! We have a bunch more coming in the fall!

Thanks for the info, Firesweep! I'd really like to get females out of these heifers for their first calves and I have some Uno Mas sexed semen already. I might just stick with that instead of Quantum or Montecito, especially since all of their growth EPD's are similar. I'm still really wanting to use Optimizer this fall and I might end up doing it. As for Shell Shocked, I haven't really looked at him too hard sine I have yet to see many offspring. I was interested in him a while back but never acted on it. I'll be curious to see how his calves turn out for you!

Thank you for the reply! I guess I forgot to mention that one of the heifers is out of High Regard! Oops.

Broadway is another one I was really considering hard for the fall breeding season. I'd be using him and Optimizer this spring if I could get sexed semen. As for Revival, I have yet to see many offspring, but I'll put him on the short list since he has sexed heifer semen available. High Regard also has sexed semen. Who's your pick between P2B and Revival?

Thanks again for the info, everyone!

I currently have one bred to Optimizer, and have 2 I plan on breeding to Broadway. The others I hope will be carrying P2B embryos.

As for my choice between Revival and P2B.......that's tough and I'm not sure I can choose between them without seeing and knowing what cow was being bred. I don't think you can go wrong with either one.

Nice looking heifer! I really dig her. What's her breeding?

Where abouts in Va are you located?

Another bull to keep an eye on is Gargans Red Revolver. I think he will bred a lot like his daddy Loaded Up.

Thank you! That's an older picture, but she's a Macho X Rendition on her sire side and her dam is Uprising x JM Dice H25-L24.

I'm in the Shenandoah Valley, if you're familiar with the VA Beef Expo or VCCP Winter Classic shows, they're around my area.
