Why don't most Club Calf Sire Directories list the polled or horned status of bulls. I don't know if I would turn down a  good bull just because he is horned. But it would be nice to know so that we can make breeding decisions.  The less work we have to do the better.  We like caustic the horns off when they are born which takes a little more work and they never look back.  I see a lot of calves in the States that have been cosmetically horned but we don't have the profit in our calves to haul them off to the vet to get horned.

They don't list it because people like me wouldn't use a horned bull on a horned cow. I hate horns. Just another job to do. That's why I take Igenity test on all replacements and get horn status and the homo polled ones can get bred clubby! Why don't the "clubby" books list EPD's? Or coat color status? Clubby world they don't have to grow if they look good. But in my pasture if they don't show they gotta grow. But then again the showy ones have to grow. Our county fair is mid July and we start calving March 1. Lightweight calves never win! Commercial world and real world are so far apart that I don't think I will ever see a cow/calf pair win the fair that is ugly as sin but does it year after year on nothing.

Better yet. Let's get really crazy and get a frame score on these bulls!  I don't think a tape measure will hurt your clipping hand if you hold it correctly.

That would just be another thing people could complain about being fixed, and made up like birth weights.
