Steer calf sound or not? Video
« on: June 20, 2018, 12:25:12 AM »
This calf started out looking good and now he has started to look a little off in his knees. As his muscle develops I feel like he is becoming less sound. What do you think?

He's got a couple issues going on.  Not going to last. He's freezer beef material IMO.

From what I can see he is too straight on both ends.  His shoulder angle is too steep.  This is causing his knees to buck over, which you can see from the video.  I have never seen one get better.  They just get worse.  He also looks like he is becoming open shouldered as well and that will be another aggravation of his bucked over knees.  This may seem harsh, but he is a wreck on the front end.

On his back end, he appears too straight there as well and is likely going to become more post legged as he ages.  He appears to be uncomfortable on his feet as he stretches out trying to re-distribute his weight.

It is a bummer when you get a real thick calf like this and his structure falls apart, but you may need to be eating him before he ever gets on feed.
