We had a steer with one testicle and had the vet castrate him and said the other one is still up in him. Just wondering what other people have done in this situation. Do we leave it in and try hormones or have a pricey surgery to get it out. Thanks

A steer with one testicle is technically a bull. Why didn't your vet remove it rather than just tell you where it was? Can you / did your vet feel in in the inguinal canal? (ie under the skin as it heads for the scrotum? If so that is an easy and should not be expensive barn surgery. Is he suppose to be a show steer?? if so it sure needs to come out or he needs to go to town...fwiw

I am not sure where you are. I checked with Ohio State here in Ohio couple years ago and they would do the surgery to remove a  testicle that hasn't fallen for around $150 to 200 bucks.
