Hello!  We have an October born steer, whose weight in just over 700lbs.  He's on a feed with 14% protein 3% fat and calf mana.  We've been told to give him rice bran stabilizer or look into purina supplements.

He's short and muscular, so we want to make him wider.  What should we do.  Our show is not until Feb. 2018.

You can't really make him wider structurally but you can add muscle that would make him "wider". I would continue to keep feeding they feed you are. He will naturally get wider as he grows as well. Looks like a good steer.
Good Luck!

Yes , I would start him on Stabilized Rice Bran Meal and switch from calf manna to Sure Champ pellets . A weight of 700 lbs is pretty good for this time of the year and you can check into muscle building suppliments later on when he gets fatter , +/- 45 days from your show . just my two cents , but it worked for us . Nice calf !

Also , make sure he's eating about 3% of his body weight per day .

Forget helping the steer.  You need to be worrying about helping the poor kid who's drowning in the pool behind you.  Hope they made it> ;D
