OK...the cold winter, short daylight hours, and holiday tensions have been getting to us at the Funk household.  How do you communicate with your spouse or handle stress?

Right now its miserably cold, ice, and husband working long hours.  I am more than capable to help with the chores (even thought I don't handle cold well), but husband won't ask.  I cann't read his mind, and the grumpiness is getting old.  How do you all read your spouses mind????

I will admit, I help alot more in the warmer seasons.  I do the show cattle, and cart the kids and cattle to shows by myself most of the time.  I guess I "know my job" in those seasons.  This is my busy time in my shop and I have kids home so my stress is higher than usual.  I guess I just want to open communication better and help him get thru all this.  Any suggestions???

OK guess the cold winter and ice is getting to me....I'm done ranting and whew I feel better just putting it down on here.  Let's share!

Same here justme!  I think part of it too is the winter time blues, at least with our family it is.  It is quite depressing when you leave for work when it is dark and get back when it is dark.  I just tread lightly, takes stuff with a grain of salt and wait for longer days! ;)

wait, we men have zero talent for that, and now i find out women don't have 100% capability?

write notes, hide treats in the tractor.

on a different note,

what are the choices for silk screening or whatever on shirts that doesn't wear off easy and isn't the stuff you print out and iron on your shirt you can buy for a pc?

was thinking about making a composite t-shirt of some animals for fun?

also, what are higher quality thread density for say printing out a color patterned bull on a hat or shirt/jacket?

This one I can answer.....I don't EVEN try to communicate with words...just meet him at the door with a glass of wine (or a beer, depending on the time of day)...and start ripping his clothes off, etc. etc. etc.  ;D This is the best reliever of stress for my husband, which in turn, WORKS for me.  (Plan ahead and send the kids to their friends, neighbors, relatives, whatever it takes, for a few hours or overnight).  This medicine usually lasts for days...but sometimes requires an extra dose...

Go find yourself a piece of coal, put it in a nasty old gym sock.  Grab a magic marker, write his name on the sock.  Nail to the mantel or the headboard of your bed. Preferably Wed. night.   He will get the picture.

hahahaha  (Hope life gets better.....stress and cold are the worst combo......add the financial pinch we all feel...presto...bad karma points!)

your silk screen options are slim to none if you expect them to last "forever".....the best sceniero is getting a quality ink transfer with plenty of ink in it, and ( some may disagree ) a 100% cotton t.....( there are  "made in usa" avaliable .... leesburg florida )  hanes is the high dollar end...gildan is the same shirt at 35% less....the trick is getting the entire print covered completely with enough heat and down pressure to transfer "all" the ink into the fabric....iron ons just dont get it....thread density with embroidery  is usually preset by design....you can adjust it a bit for the different  types of fabric your are putting it on...and as you shrink a design it becomes more dense...3 X 3 is usually stock size for hats and left chests..20% is about all i will "strech or shrink" any design.....i would be hard pressed to have an animal digitized utill i  looked at all the "stock" designs...pm me and let me know what your lookin' for .. and what format your embroiderier uses .... i got about 20k embroidery designs, and screens galore.....dakotacollectables.com  is a good place to "browse" for embroidery designs....if you do your own art work or want to use someones elses ...let me know...screens arent that bad ....the only restrictions youi have with screens is the t color...."most"  require a light colored shirt....( whites, grays, light blues, pinks ect )  you have to specify... if you want screens on dark colored shirts.........jbarl

Well I'm speaking from the other side of the fence,(I can be a grumpy bear this time of year) sometimes its best to stay out of the way of the grumpy bear, greet him with a genuine smile and ask if there is anything you can do,  when he growls and grumbles remember he isn't mad at you, but he is mad at the extra problems we all face at this time of year.
Also even the grumpiest bear cannot resist a plate of warm chocolate chip cookies,  an empty recliner, tv on  a football game, and the remote control nearby.
If that doesn't work you will have to move on to the weapons of male distraction (something frilly and lacy)
Good luck spring will be here sooner than you think

If I tried that, then I would get the, "what has happened now?"  "Why are you acting like this?"  My husband is definitely a "half empty glass" type of guy.

Yell, scream, cuss and if all else fails a heafty 2 X 4 will get the job done.  I hate winter, the extra 20 pounds of clothes, extra chores, mud, and it takes twice as long to do anything.  I never used to understand why people went to Florida for the winter until just the last couple of years and the older I get the more I can appreciate the warmer climate theory.

I'm thinkin kdhansen is a man!

I just agree w/ him to avoid any arguments & then go ahead & do it my way.

This time of year we over expect so much. We think everything has to be perfect. Shopping is a nighmare especially for kids & other family. You do extra baking, wrapping & decorating & the stress just piles on. Try to attend a Christmas Eve or day service. That might uplift your spirits.

One time in college I'd returned to school from the weekend at home and my roomate and his girlfriend were sitting on the couch watching t.v.. I was carrying laundry and stuff in the trailer house. Gayles girlfriend really didn't like me much and vice versa so there was some tension ever trip I made in with stuff. One my last trip in the door my shirt collar somehow caught in the screen door spring up top. The collar of my shirt ripped clear off and hung there somehow. I acted cool like nothing had happened. I put my stuff away and came out to where they were watching t.v. holding hands. I looked at her and we both busted out laughing and rolling on the floor. No tension after that.Guess you had to be there. ;D
