Tiger Woods makes the Red Angus Journal
« on: November 23, 2009, 08:36:29 PM »
Tiger Woods appears in the December American Red Angus issue. |The crossbred bull  is advertised on page 29. There is all this talk about how harmless all the club calf genetic junk is that is continually vomited up is.....what are the problems with Tiger Woods? Is he horned, polled or homozygous polled? What is his status on th,pha, monkey mouth, and etc.? What is his breeding? Now we will be guessing about all the Red Angus cattle now. God save us....I didn't dream I'd see it in the Red Angus Journal.
People can't believe we have such a big moon for such a small town.

he's th and pha free. should be mouth defect free.
The livestock (show) industry is a tough one- if you've never had anything worth a damn you might as well go on the internet and rundown everybody you can.

It just goes to show you that the bigger a breed gets, the more room it has for idiots. You won't have to guess about mine. RW

Looks like he has a pretty much red angus color except a white strip onhis side, white underline. I assume he has no Red Angus blood in him.

He is in the bottom right of the Bovine Elite ad. They  sneak in a clubby bull in the Angus Journal too. They have done it before.

Where have all the SP Blogs gone?

Here are the rules for Red Angus division in Iowa Jr Beef Breeds Assoc.Looks like he would make RA steers . What is the problem with somebody trying to make a RA steer? Competition?

Red Angus Steers must be 50% or more Red Angus from one registered parent, be predominately red in color and display sufficient breed characteristics, which match % of registration. Heifers must be 87% or higher Red Angus. Steer & Heifer registration papers must be in hand at check in and must be in the exhibitors name.

Why go and ruin a perfectly good animal? ;) ;)

If the sale at NAILE was any indication there is going to be a push in that direction by some. Especially if you need to add all the good traits RA's bring to the table. Personally I sold everything and started over with them and won't dilute them.

On a side note: Talked to a few of the bidders and buyers at the sale and most see the RA's as better quality for less money. One note that should make RW happy, they mentioned how honest & helpful the breeders were. Some said they are moving out of the clubby thing because of the money it takes to compete. They also mention how many of the breeders (I would call this group multipliers) used questionable practices (husbandry). Some felt that the RA's in the ring were more like real world cattle and judged that way.

Further evidence of the growth in popularity of RA's, is the association office told me, just last week,  that they have seen a tidal wave of new JR member applications.

I don't see how you can determine fertility, udder quality, fleshing ability on roughage, stayability under a natural enviroment, profitability in a feedlot, in a show ring. You can't do it. Natural selection is natural selection. Its not done with fake enviroments like the showring demands.
