I've used em both. And I liked em both. The Reymond calves have a little more grow in em, and the ones we had were about as nice as anything we've raised lately. He's heterozygous polled, but as one of the few sons of Power Drive out there, not a bad one to have in a line up. We have a two year old daughter that raised our top bull last year as a first-calf-heifer, and she just calved again...picture perfect udder and just a nice young cow. We kept a son for clean up last year, too, and then sold him last fall. I think the Reymond bull was definitely under used. We'd probably still be using him some if he had been homozygous polled. You'll like the calves, though. Hidden Powers were good, too...smaller outlined and nowhere near the performance or the EPD profile to match against Reymond. We didn't keep any daughters out of him, though, so...

I agree the Reymonds are stout, deep, and growthy. Ours were a little less attractive; down headed type of cattle with some throat. But real honest and beefy. Calved out small and easily. I've seen a few that were more attractive, but I wouldn't use him on a cow that needed refinement. Overall, I like him for what he does well; but like any other bull, he won't work on everything.

Reymond never froze much semen or he would have really took off. he took a couple of years before he froze any semen and then didn't freeze for long, but did breed alot of cows at Triple C naturally for years. The calves come really small and then takeoff and grow like weeds. I always thought the calves were attractive. He was about a 6 frame or maybe slightly less so he could moderate the bigger Simmy cows.

And that heifer's first calf...a bull by Manifest that topped our Open House at the Farm sale last fall. He went to Missouri and I understand semen will be available on him in the very near future.

Should be a high growth bull backed by the best cow family that's ever set foot on our place...homozygous black and homozygous polled. And out of a first-calf Reymond daughter.
