He was a Meyer 734 out of a power plant cow. Some of my best cows are out of tugboat. I have noticed him showing up on the bottom side of quite a few pedigrees lately. Off the top of my head, I saw some in Kris Black's sale catalog and there were some nice heifers out of tugboat cows in Brandon Horn's online sale last week. I think that he was never used a great deal and was never promoted very much.  He was a bit ahead of his time and still very relevant today. He was very choke necked and moderate for a meyer son and would sire a lot of muscle shape and bone.

Kris Black had and sold him in the mid to late 90's in a sale to a guy in deep south Texas, kind of got under utilized and probably not an abundance of semen put up on him.

That donor cow is now located in central Texas.  She is awesome in person and looks great in our pasture

I saw her +/- January 2012, she really impressed me. I think she will raise you some darn nice slick shearing type cattle. Not that they won't have good hair also, but she is so powerful yet very correct, good hipped, soft sided, and big boned. Good luck with her, I will be excited to see what she does for you. When are your first calves out of her due? What did you breed her to? I do have a little Tugboat semen that might consider selling, send me a PM if interested.

he has an interesting pedigree other than the power plant/cunia/black gold.

should be a clue to create others, the tools are there.

Is there more then one TugBoat bull?  I have some semen on Tugboat but I do not see Meyer 734 in his pedigree.  I see PowerPlant though.

Need to set the record straight here, Kris Black didn't sell the bull, I bought him from Mike Martin for the man in South Texas in about 1995 or so, and kept an interest in him myself. We still have a lot of cows that go back to him or are out of him that have been great cows. Recently there have been some females popping up in the sales as mentioned in earlier posts, the ones at Kris' were out of my cows. The ones in Horn's sale were out of a cow I raised and sold a buddy who flushed her and showed calves out of her for his daughter, she is a senior so last year he traded the cow to Horn for a steer that ended up being Champion ABC at San Antonio this year. That family has placed several steers out of her while they had her. The steers never were hairy but the were always good practical steers, gentle, and easy feeding and we did well with several in many different breeds. We never had a baby picture of the bull and he was already siring calves when we got him and just never got that promotion deal to take off.  He has some color back in his pedigree somewhere because he breeds some color in them, which we liked as it makes them easier to sell here in slick shear country.  I have had some perfectly marked Hereford calves out of him and Hereford cows.  He did toe out but was sound moving and lived and bred cows for over 12 years I have plenty of good semen on him if interested just let me know.

Here's an update on the calves born last fall out of that Tugboat donor.  Had 8 ET calves out of her and they are all very nice.  Here are 2 pictures both calves sired by Solid Gold.  Red calf is a steer and yellow calf is a heifer! What are yall's opinions?
