So, we looked at the heifers again, and my daughter is set on the grey I-80 heifer, so it looks like that's the direction we are going.  She's 3 mos. old now, so will stay with the cow for 2 more months.  I'm open to opinions, and suggestions for feeding.  Breeder said she is more of a hard made heifer and will need to be softened up.  SHe is standing downhill on the picture and it was taken with my cell....

Any suggestions on feeding?  We feed a ration based on AOOK'S but we reduce the corn a little and add barley. Also feed vita firm sure champ and will top dress with SRB for added finish if needed.  Considering adding beet pulp or maybe depth charge for her middle. Any thoughts??

We are feeding some I-80's and they feed. The steers are averaging 3.8#s. I would put her on a simple 12-14% grower ration. AAOK's ration is pretty complete we modified it for our area and what is readily available. I used Soy Pellets to help reduce cost. I also use calf manna directly in supplement. That's a nice heifer when you get her in the barn and on some feed and rinsing. I like her alot. THe I-80's I have worked with ahve had great hair and they have been puppy dog temperment. Not sure with ours if its the cow side with good gains but we would use and buy calves out of him again. The females turn out to be super feminine.
