Wagyu Cattle Pics
« on: March 02, 2011, 04:39:50 PM »
Some friends of mine have one the largest Wagyu herds in Australia about 1500 pure Wagyu cows. They also run there cattle on an island just off the Tasmania mainland and drive them on and off a few years ago a documentary was done on them these are a few pics. Hope you find them interesting.I'm the one on the Appaloosa.

i'm gonna guess that some of those were taken from a helicopter.

Aussie, first of all I don't like Apps., but that is a good looking one you are riding. My question is do they feed these cattle out and if they do how many days do they feed them before slaughter. Are they grass fed or grain fed?

MCC I know what you are saying but she is a handy mare. Weaners are shipped to Queensland feed for a limited time then go live to Japan where they are feed for 500 days. The herd was established in 1992 and through embryo work have built up to 1500. I am not sure of the bloodlines but the whole herd is closely related. The cattle are great walkers but are butt ugly certainly not front paddock cattle

I had heard those cattle had to be on feed for along time but the meat costs something like 8 to 10 dollars a pound. Pass the Angus please! (lol)

Don't some places in Japan massage and give beer to their cattle daily to relax them? I think I saw that on the food channel or something.
