So the Weaver/Stierwalt products have been out for a few months now, and I was just thinking that it would be nice to see what people are thinking of them.  I have used them some, and I have my own opinions to share.

Adhesives- They're pretty decent IMO.  Maybe not as consistent as Sullivan's products, but not bad. Their tail glue parallel isn't quite as strong and isn't quite the same, but it's okay.  I'd like to try the glues some more so I can really figure out how to get all the potential out of them.

Paint- Some of the best paint I've ever used. It goes on very even and "dry", and is very very easy to blend.  I still prefer the Sullivan Ultra White, but that may be out of familiarity.  The Hereford and Shorthorn shades are by far the easiest to use out of anything I've used.  I will be buying a lot of Weaver paint before Jr Nationals.

Daily Use Products-  I haven't used much of these, but I'll tell you guys two words that need to be in your vocabulary.  Pro Charge.  The stuff is amazing.  It comes in an aerosol, and also in a concentrated form to mix in with sheen.  I've used both, and it is the real deal no matter which you use.  The aerosol is great to use as a Summer replacement for Revive. It isn't as heavy as Revive, and as far as I can see, it does just as good of a job of bringing hair to life and eliminating harsh dry skin areas.  The concentrated form is here to stay in my sheen mix, and I will not go without it now.  We mix it in at 1:4 with the sheen and it does some pretty good stuff for us.  It has all but replaced our use of vinegar in daily use.  We still use Vinegar in our conditioning dip, but no longer in our sheen.  You can notice a difference in one day. We've been using it for about a month, and have some of the healthiest hair we've ever had at the end of May.

Now its time for all of you to let the rest of us know your experiences, good or bad, that you've had with the products.  I don't want to start a Sullivan vs. Weaver/Stierwalt debate or battle, just an objective conversation.  I have the utmost respect for both companies, and use products from both of them, but the Weaver stuff is new, and its time for some reviews!

I have never really used it until 2 days ago at a show weaver was all i used and the adheisve takes some time to get use to. either it takes longer to dry or its not quite as strong cuz i felt like i had to work the hair a little harder to get it to go. i do love their color paint but like you said i dont think their white is like sullivans but their other colors match up better. overall the leg came out the same as with sullivan products but had to give it a little more time

We're using the concentrated Pro Charge, which is the Weaver "revive". They have an aerosol version too, but we only use that once or twice a week, or not at all if their hair is in good shape.

Both companies have some good products.  But comparing the adhesives, the Sullivan's has been far better for myself and my crew to work with.  The Weaver adhesive keeps falling down and is strongly affected by humidity.  With the touch-ups, either black or white of Sullivanvan's performs far better.  We had trouble with Weaver knocking down the glue and being watery looking.  I do like the Weaver red paints but just as you do with Sullivans, you have to mix and match your reds.  I'm afraid with all the different shades of reds in livestock it's always going to be a bit of mixing 2-3 shades.  I'll stick with Sullivan's Revive over Weaver's revive copy, Pro-Charge.  Couldn't get the pro-charge to soften the skin or condition the skin like the lanolin based product, Revive.

We've used Sullivan's for years like everyone else so wanted to give the new brand a shot.  What we found was the Tail and prime time of Sullivan's just cannot be beat.  the drying time is so much faster and holds up better in weather extrememes.  The weaver adhesives tend to fall down before you want them to.  Actually we did not think there was any comparison.

Haven't used any of the Weaver products yet but someone needs let Weaver know that cattle have hair and not fur, the description for their halter reads:

"All features of this halter from the rolled nose, rounded cheek pieces, black leather, and black hardware blend in to the animal's fur so that judges have a true view of the animal's features."

I see that in some catalogs it has been correct but in others it has not.

If you look in the daily hair care part it says its 1:4 ratio pro charge to sheen. That's it then maybe once a week you can use the aerosol whenever the hair needs it. The good thing about the concentrate is that its basically like a liquid revive but not as heavy on the hair. That 1:4 ratio gives it just enough to keep that freshness and pop in the hair without weighing it down.

Hope that helped you out Jason

Any opinions on the breakdown products.  I have not been brave enough to try them yet.  There is also a product called "breakdown" that smells like orange oil (not associated with Sullivan or Weaver) that I have heard works well?

Any opinions on these products would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Brian

On the break-down products I tried the Weaver Pro Remover, did a good enough job of cleaning out the adhesive and washed out ok but it had a really rank smell to it.  it turned my calves hide red.  My show buddy tried same thing at a different show on his calves.  He didn't like it at all either.  Chapped his hands and seemed to eat the leg hair.  I don't know whats in it but seemed nasty.  I tried the orange break down product also.  It was a good product.  Worked like Hocus pocus.  broke down easy, rinsed out well and could refit the next day with no oil residue just like you can with hocus pocus.  It did seem a little more expensive.  The can did not go as far.  For me on showday products I'll stick with hocus pocus for shows that I have to refit.  And one day shows I use EZ All it's Gone.  I like that its natural and plant based and doesn't harm the hair even if you use every weekend.

I like the Hamms leg adhesive or Sullivans prime time and tail much better than the Weaver adhesive.  I was given some Weaver adhesive at Denver and thought I'd try it and had to spray and spray and spray to try to get it to hold up.  It took a long time to do one leg.  Seemed like the can was a little smaller.  I only got about 2 head out of a can.  Seemed expensive.  In the end I just didn't like it's holding power.  It was kind of wet.  Actually I was very disappointed in the Weaver adhesives.

The first time I tried the Weaver adhesive and touch ups I thought they were ok, not great.  Then I tried them again 2 weeks ago, helping a friend on an average spring day, not that hot or humid and I couldn't get the adhesive to keep from melting. All the leg hair was wanting to fall down 10-15 minutes after I thought I had the legs set.  It took a lot of work and patience to try to get the leg reasonable.  Then when i sprayed with touch up, it all came back down.  Weaver may have some nice products, I'm sure they do.  But the adhesive and black touch up sure is not one of them.  Getting similar reports from everyone I show with and trade help with.  They've all tried Weaver glues and backed off already.  For showday breakdown I still like to use a can of oil or hocus pocus.

So far I love the weaver products!! The pro-pink and pro gloss worked awesome for me and smelled great ;). Seemed like I used less and got a better shine than the sullivan pink oil! I also have pro-charge concentrate it's been working great for us too!! I never had any problems with the pro remover. I used aerosol, didn't notice any disgusting or unpleasant smells. Haven't used the adhesives a ton but haven't had much problem wise with them, they might be a little weaker. I don't use paints cause all that stuff is illegal here so I'm not sure about them.

they are okay. neither lines are perfect in my opinion but i think i would use either product.

i noticed the strong adhesive from weaver was kinda in between tail and prime time strength wise. it also seemed to be a little powdery which was nice for shows that don't allow paint like in ohio. tail adhesive tends to look like glaze on a donut and the weaver tends to look like powder on a donut lol.

i tried to paint a horn heifer at kentucky beef expo with weaver paint and had to give up because all the nozzles kept clogging. things got a little tense when i couldn't get paint to come out of any can no matter which nozzle i had on. cans were also brand new.

i do like how the weaver cans spray when cold. they blow away the sullivan products in that regard but weren't with a darn after they were heated up and then cooled down for us.

Interesting about the Weaver paints getting clogged. I have more trouble with Sullivan paints doing that than just about anything.

I like the Weaver Pro Pink but it's the same thing as Lusters pink sheen spray that you get in any beauty supply for $3 less than weaver is selling for.  I do like the product and you can buy a case at the beauty supply store for $36.  Sometimes it can get too light and not add enough shine to thick haired ones.

All the weaver adhesives and touch ups I've been unhappy with how they work for me.  It took forever to do a leg, just not enough strength.  It was like using women's hair spray, that light.  The Sullivan glues and adhesives are much easier and have stood the test of time for me.
