i would go with Alias or Sunseeker on plain Angus cows.  both can give you problems but they change them as fast as any I have used.

If she is a plain made Angus I would breed her to something like Hired Man or Manchild, or I have a shorthorn bull TF Shooter that will really thicken her up, ad some color, and produce a marketable calf.

Do you have a picture of the cow? Might help us.

I dont think you can go wrong with Who Made Who. I guess if I saw the cow might help. Some of the Who son's have worked great on plainer made angus females like Hannibal if they have enough guts.

Not to get off the subject but that looks like a very good Shorthorn bull .........who sells semen on him.  We have used Alias on black Angus cows an he has done a very good job, an I also think you could sell some as bulls because the ones we had are all black so far. Some of my friends back here have used My Turn on Angus cows an like them , we tried some this year, also tried a little Tycoon.  Had a full sister to our Angus bull Nothern Gun 301 that we think will work well with Milkman. Next year I can tell you if our thinkin was right ...............

I crossed some of our Angus cows this year. I used Hired Man, WMW, Hairy and Meredes Benz. Very excited for next springs calves.

I crossed up a few last year and got a Johnny Walker Red and Paddy O'Malley. Love the JWR calf.

We bred our PB Angus cow from the Lucy line to our PB Shorthorn bull Tommy Boy. She's huge, thick really deep with a big butt.

Would Double Vision work if he wanted to go the shorthorn plus route?

HECK YES...I love him, we gotta real nice (JET BLACK) heifer out of a pretty plain cow...she has 2 inches of hair right now in the summer

Only problem is DV is a double carrier I believe

Was 2008 TF Shooter's first calf crop. I noticed there are only two registered out of him. Great blood lines T90 bottom with Casino on Top......... interesting.

If you guys want semen on Shooter, get in touch with Tyler and Brandi Hofstatter or Paul Truckenbrod, they raised and own him.  I've seen Shooter LOTS of times and he is the real deal.  He was Reserve bull last year at Jr. Nationals, and should have won the whole thing really easily, but that's in the past.  He's a fall 06 bull, so the fall 08 calves are his first, and they're hairy with a great look from the ones I've seen.

And yes, I'm good friends with his owners, but he's a really good bull too.

On a plain Angus cow, I'd use SunSeeker or Double Vision.

Thanks for the kudos Justin!  As additional information, Shooter is a Double Vision Grandson (His father's name is HSF AFTERBURN).  Yes, Shooter semen is readily available through us or Cattle Visions.  We will be running an awesome special at Illinois State Fair!  Feel free to pm or email me ([email protected]) if you would like further information.

Could we see some Shooter calves? Any Pictures?...WMW, Full Flush,HW,Kadabra,Habenero, and Double Vision have worked the best for us and our customers over the years.Of course it depends on what bloodline of Angus you have and what quality. If you are talking just Plain Jane Angus cows with nothing in particular going for them, your best shot would be WMW.There are some Simmy's that work ok,but as a rule they have to be pretty darn good quality wise. There are a few Maines that work, mostly older blood that is hard to come by.Alot of folks will defend the Meyer 734 blood of Simmy's,but he won't nor will his son's work on Plain Jane Angus cows.

Our best heifer to date is a 3C Macho out of a WMW/Angus cow. She is absolutely beautiful and a baldy. I am with TMJ, use WMW and then experiment on the offspring.

We do have some pictures. We have only shown two of them so far and have done very well with both of them. The pictures we have are from Jr Nationals and I am waiting to get those back.  We have several spring heifers and a few spring bulls that all look superb.  We also have a load of fall calves coming out of Shooter. The pictures will be up soon and will be labled as shooter calves. Any further quesions please feel free to contact me at any time.

If you want a terminal cross only for show only then use Sunseeker but if you want something that will make a great one that you can also keep as a female then try Duff New Generation 6107
