What do you think of this Red Angus herd sire?
« on: August 30, 2010, 04:16:52 PM »
This is Red RMJ Redman 1T, a herd sire at Lazy MC Angus, owned by Clint and Angela Morasch, Bassano, AB.  He is a Red 5L Norseman King X OCC Hunter 928H son. IMO, any breed could use a bunch of herd bulls that look like this guy. Semex International have already selected a son for their international semen program.

Very impressive JIT. You should buy some daughters and breed them to one of your good Shorties and think of the Durham Reds!

Here is his son that Semex has purchased from Clint. He is Red Lazy MC Detour 2W. I am not familiar with this Red Angus line, but I do know that I really have liked almost everything Lazy MC has ever brought out.  As far as when Detour semen will be available in your location, you will have to check with a Semex rep.

What are your intentions?  Commercial herd? AI? Purebred use? Do you own him? EPD's?  Age?

Seems pretty nice, and has a super hip, and I am not much of a Norseman King fan!

I don't know anything about the bull and have never seen him. I just found these pictures on Lazy MC's website and thought they looked like very good cattle... and as I said, I have always liked Clint's cattle that he has brought out.

Thats a nice bull but what are they feeding him? Is he in that good of condition on just range? That would be impressive for sure. He looks like a hog to me. The cowboy cut bull they bred has got a great look to him as well. Norseman King has a bad rap for MCE but he sure made a good one here. I give him a thumbs up (thumbsup)

I like their type. Both bulls look good but the photo of his son is my favorite which says something about his sire.

If one was to be critical. What changes would you make?

I think the outcross potential of the Red Angus makes for added value.

Charolais X Red Angus is one of my favorites but they cross nicely on just about every breed IMO.

It's worth going to semexusa.com to get a look @ MC Detour's dam. She's a rip. More pics of Detour also.
