Yeah and this is tame too.  Anyone a member of a college football/basketball, nfl board?  It can and does get nasty all the time.  To the point, where people want to meet up to fight.  I kid you not.  Lots of wackos out there.

I think genuinely we have a ton of nice people who would go out of there way to help another person out.

It's like someone from Ohio State going on the Iowa board to blast their team? Who in the world has time to go on a site of another persons, favorite team, or in this case, activity and bash what they do? Why do you have to tell everyone how stupid you think they are here? Does it make you feel smart? Read some of what you write and then tell me again how smart you are.

It saddens me to write this but, for goodness sake, y'all need to get out of the box.  If you are a died in the wool, show cattle minded cattle breeder, then for all means, go breed what you can sell.  If you are a died in the wool____fill in the blank____, then go breed what you can sell.  I have never witnessed such a bunch of simple minded folks that hold piles of animosity to whoever is not doing EXACTLY what you are doing.  I have worked with plenty of show people, commercial people, seedstock people, and non-cattle people.  They are all trying to do the same thing....promote their product.  If y'all can't promote your product withour throwing everyone else under the bus, then for goodness sakes, take an anger management class.  Jees, this used to be fun... a little banter among like minded people.  Now it has turned into South vs. North.  My grandpa told me to keep my mouth shut and let your product do the talking.  Please remember that everyone on this board is ATTEMPTING to sell a product (beef) and it is really riduculous to read the ineptitude of simple minded folks bashing each other over stupid ****.  I guess that I will pull a self inflicted AJ and get off of here until folks realize that diversity is a GOOD thing.  peace out....

I can understand the frustration but when the people with some knowledge that the rest of us can learn something from are silent haven't the negative people won? I hope you keep posting and wish you would start again RW.

Jason, I'm a member of the Oklahoma State Rivals board and that actually happened. Two members got so fed up with each other and so infatuated with what they deemed correct that they met up to settle it with their fists....comedy at it's best. You do a great job and I really enjoy your board! Keep it up!

Debates are a good thing.  If everyone had the same thoughts and ideas, then there would be no need for this forum and knowledge in general would be stagnant.  We all will have different experiences, and it is beneficial for others to learn from each others successes or failures along with doing their own homework.  However, tact is something that is missing at times on this site.  If you feel strongly about a position and feel you should voice your opinion, great.  Communicating those thoughts in an offensive manner (very different than non-popular), will not likely strengthen the case and often will lose credibility for the poster.

Something to keep in mind when posting on any site is this quote by the ex-CEO of google,  "The internet never forgets."

And when reading or replying, it is easy to misinterpret the typed word as body language, facial expression and voice inflection are complete missing.  It might be worth giving someone the benefit of the doubt.

Just want to say that I have seen Clubbie beat out commercial in the real world, I've done it. "in class" where do you think your "commercial standards" come from? They come from "in class" cattle ask any association pres. vp. etc. your so called "real world" starts in the ring. And I know for a fact that many breeders are going Clubbie cause Clubbie stands out "in class" and "real world", I know this cause several "real world" breeders have said so to me. Hmm maybe these names will prove Clubbies stand out
Don Cardy (california)
Select Sires
Sullivans
Don't get me wrong I have seen some really nice "commercial" SH that I would be proud to have in my herd. But I love Clubbies and this is my opinion.

I think you may be confused about what commercial cattle are and where their standards come from.  I don't know of any commercial cattlemen that are going to the State Fair or Stock Show to determine which cattle work best in their environement. If you went to a ranch in the Sandhills of Nebraska and looked at  a thousand cows that were producing feeder calves and then went to a club calf producer in central Ohio and looked at their cows I doubt anyone would confuse the two.  Both may have successful operations but different cattle.  I don't know of Don Cardy but Select Sires sells semen and Sullivan's are good people with great cattle but I wouldn't consider them commercial cattlemen.  I am not saying either is right or wrong but to say the club calf industry is setting the standard for the commercial cattleman would not be correct.  The real world certainly doesn't start in the show ring, a better argument could be made that it stop there.

in a pure democracy, people would not be allowed to breed what they want and experiment.

it's no wonder some of the people who are complained about don't participate in board discussions.

What happened was Trevor Grey Cattle and the Truth showed their lack of class again and wrote inappropriate and inaccurate threads and got it pulled.  Congratulations to the Shorthorn breed and Shorthorn Plus on winning such a fantastic honor.
I wasnt going to respond to this but I cant take it. Enlighten me, what did I say that was inaccurate or inappropriate? IT'S JUST MY OPINION.  The topic asked what were everyones opinions on a BLACK heifer being on the cover of Shorthorn Country. Sorry if I am not whistlen dixie about it. Its a neat honor sure. Does it change my direction of what I want to do, not in the least. Any publicity is good I suppose so I will just shut up and let the world be perfect again. Once again, anybody who has a different opinion on these things gets put in the proper place. At least I have acknowledged that the breed has some problems and I am trying to breed cattle that can help in the long run. What have you done lately?  I am willing to talk with anybody and work with anybody on this issue. You have every right to disagree with anybody. The trick is coming together and working TOGETHER. Look, if your happy with your herd and it makes you money, then the rest is water under the bridge. Time will prove who has made good choices and bad.
