I am looking for a white shorthorn bull to breed to a crossbred hiefer that is calving ease. I was wondering if TM gus was calving ease but other than that I have no ideas. thanks

We have a 4 yr old all white registered bull RR Tommy Boy. He's had some really nice calves. He's out of Sin City and KaBa. The calves birth weights have been very accommodating to the size of the cow. We've had a lot of success with getting blue roans too. Let me know if you are interested.

We had a 92 lb. bull calf out of a purebred shorthorn heifer and  had to pull it. I'd use a little cation using him on a heifer. He sure does make them pretty though.

I wouldn't use Sin City on heifers - he is very inconsistent (ask Brad Hook) - he has a minus BW EPD with low accuracy (for calving ease you want it +) and a plus 3.6 BW with reasonable accuracy- in my herd - same cow Sin City heifer calves 3 years in a row - 95, 71, and 125 lbs

I am with the duck on this one - want a live calf and a live heifer - go with proven calving ease - high accuracy CE & BW #s - I like the RA for my heifers

What did you tell us? Did I miss something?

I did read in my shortie journal that one thing the assoc and most purebred breeders are worried about is the bad reputation for high birth weights, calving difficulty and too big of cows. Most folks around here would agree.... my thoughts (FWIW) is JPJ MAYBE. No Okie Dokie... not only big calves, but TH carrier.

My goal in breeding heifers is getting a calf out alive, with no problems for the heifer. I don't care if it comes out purple and green!!
