So, I write this wondering is stock showing in the Southeast, Georgia to be exact, a dieing thing? My soon to be step daughter has just started showing heifers, she will be going to her second one ever the 6th of October. I would for her to go to clinics, summer camps, anything to get more involved and have someone besides myself teach her, I feel that I have the ability to yeah her but maybe she would listen to someone else teaching, with more kids her age involved, cause like any parent you want them to succeed so my expectations are higher and I push her alittle harder with her homework so to speak. I'm reaching out cause anything I find with clinics are states away and that's not really an option. So anyone in the Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina or just south east region have any input, ideas, suggestions please tell me. I want this to be more fun for her. I want her to get really involved but I can't seem to find anything around us or I'm not looking in the right place.

Try reaching out to John Sullivan @ Sullivan Supply to ask if they have any clinics scheduled for your area in the coming year. He'll be able to direct you to the closest one for your stepdaughter to attend.

I see Stierwalt has a couple of clinics scheduled in Tennesee in February and March.  Look up  Stierwalt Cattle and Clinics for their full schedule.

Shows in Louisiana are about the same. Over the years the same families from 20-30 years continue to show with few new comers here and there. However few of the newcomers stay the course. The only families with longevity from years ago that continue have younger family members that are brought into showing. Right next door in Texas for example the showsteer arena is booming. In order to get a competitive steer you have to leave Louisiana. The Louisiana State Fair has maybe 30 steers total.....? The next big show is the LSU show.  I think the biggest issue in Louisiana is the lack of support for the youth in livestock. Couple that with the lack of support from the commissioner of Ag, and the lack of exposure and interest in 4-H and FFA, etc. Also, few families have the resources necessary to participate.  It is expensive to participate and to compete.

I'm with ya, it is sad that agriculture has gotten a shadow on it that nobody pays it any attention anymore or gets over looked for sports and parents sometimes pour as much money if not more for their kid to play sports but nobody wants to take on responsibility in raising animal that can teach you kid sooo much more than a football or baseball.
