We have a Cerveza cow that has raised one good calf after another. We have been using her to produce show steers, but are wanting to bred/flush her for more of a maternal (heifer replacements). Our cow has been tested PHAF. We recently purchased a Whiskey son out of a New Edition full sister...
MAB has worked well on our cows. So has Roger That. Came across another MAB son that caught my eye. Fireball Whiskey....has anyone seen the bull in person? Have only seen two pics of him, but I always question the professional ad pictures because of the help the photographer gives to the bull. I...
We have had a few Roger That calves and they have been good. I have not seen any Italian Stallion cavles in person, but I have heard they are ok. Has anyone had any Fair Lucky calves? I know he and IS are flush mates, but have not seen any cavles. Our RT calves so far have been a little softer...
I am wanting to purchase a high % (or PB) Maine heifer and wanted to see where some of the best heifers can be purchased. I would like a heifer that has all of the shape needed to be successful in a show ring, but at the same time have the maternal ability to be a functional mamma cow for years...
After reading through some of the other thoughts, I understand some of the opinions, but I still can't get past the difference in attributes considered between heifers/steers......obviously the steers are being judged on their carcass potential and high retail cuts, but heifers should be judged...
I am not complaining about the heifers that are winning. In fact, I usually really like the heifers that win. I guess to answer your question about what I think the champion should look like, it should be able to raise the champion steer? I don't think that is out of the question? I just feel...
After years of going to shows, showing heifers and steers a thought continues to come to my mind about the judges and their reasons when selecting their champions. We show in four different states at various different shows ( large multi state shows / local county fairs) and I usually see/hear...
I have seen some very nice looking No Worries calves on Twitter and other social sharing sites. I realize most of the calves are out of TH carrier cows. What kind of body types is No a Worries working best on? Has anyone seen/had any No Worries from non carrier cows?
How are the RT and IS calves compared to MAB? Both bulls have been marketed as producing smoother calves with "the look", but do they have the power MAB seems to consistently throw?
Sounds like many people have had behavior issues. Our Walks Alone calves are not the most gentle we have, but only one that has been an issue. My original question was how the finished steers would compare out of WA and BIM. We have not calved out any WA heifers yet, but sounds like they are ok...
We have used Walks Alone for two years. Had good ones from him with our cows. I am considering using Believe in Me. I know they are brothers, but wanted to know the differences in their calves? Anything major? Especially when the steers are finished out.
We understand the risks associated with using carrier IW sons, but are looking to raise some heifers/cows that when bred to TH Bulls can really produce steers with the "it" look. We feel that we can manage our PHA calves if they are born carriers out of the IW sons that are carriers. We will...
Our heifers are not fat and were not fed hard all winter. They are Amen daughters. We calved Amen daughters last spring out of I80 and did not have the size that we are currently getting out of Daddy's Money. The heifers are full or half sisters to last years. The Daddy's Money calves are doing...
We have one Cerveza cow we bought. Really like her and her overall substance as a cow! Looking to breed some Angus/Maine cows to some Whiskey influenced bulls to create some clubby mothers. We have researched the different IW sons and have a few in mind but want to hear what others have...
