Start preparing weeks before, with a rice root and conditioning them well.  On show day, its like everyone has said scotch comb and rice root legs and light oil the body.

Final Product has worked great for my herd, which is the sire of pure product. Another one that I like to give a good amount of thickness and femininity is gambles royal flush... now these will be tick moderate and have a bit of attitude. 

Personally, I think its best to be neither first nor last, however, you should be closer to one or the other.  If you are first, you could have to fast or slow of a pace and your the one setting it for that class.  If your last, you're more likely to not be seen or just simply not get tailed. ...
