I saw I smokey roan market steer at the California State Fair earlier this week, but when I asked the owner about the genetics/breed of the calf they did not know any information. :(
She milks pretty good...her bag isn't huge, but it is about average for Maines, and I don't have any pictures of him yet, but when we start weaning in early September i can post some pictures.
what breed is the calf? or the cow?
I know angus has DNA testing as well as the maine association...you can go to their breed websites and request a kit and send it back to them and they will do the test..
If you could post a picture or two of rocky calves that would be awesome! I haven't been able to find any calves!!
and thank you to everyone for all of the suggestions!!
I have also heard that Bovi Stride works well to help keep a fluid stride.
I had a shorthorn heifer that would pop her pasterns every so often, It went away with lots of exercise!! Show day I would walk her for almost an hour first thing in the morning then for about 20 minutes before I would...
I have a low percentage Maine heifer (25% to be exact) her sire is a Northern Improvement son (Angus) and her dam's lines include Book'em Dano and Iceman. She is an April heifer, and is pretty small for her age. I was wondering if anybody had breeding suggestions for her. She was about 70 pounds...
