    AI-ing a Second Calf Heifer/Cow

Hi everyone, I have a current show heifer/cow who is ready to be rebred, only problem is that I don't know how to do it myself, and I just don't have $500 to take her to a vet. Anyone know anyone who could help out? Or any advice? Thanks in advance.

    First Calf Ever!

Thank you! It's a bull. We are planning on getting him castrated and (hopefully) selling him as a show steer. Since we're in Texas, he'd be classified by the show's committee, and we assume he'd classify Angus due to the majority of his characteristics, but there's no telling.  (thumbsup)

    First Calf Ever!

Yesterday morning my show heifer had her first calf! She's an  Eye Candy X Dr. Who x Charolais who I bred to Fat Tony (Red Angus). The baby is in the mid to high 70s, born unassisted and healthy. I'm very pleased with how she's mothering (not overly broody) and milking.

    -Help- Feeding Pregnant Show Heifers

Cowman 52- The protein content of the sweet feed says "(min) 14%" .. she has had a whole square bale of hay at all times, but she doesn't really eat it. We've tried 3 different places for hay, and when she'd finally eat it, she'd stop after a week. Any suggestions for that? Chambero- I'm in...

    -Help- Feeding Pregnant Show Heifers

My heifer is coming back from her breeder's place very soon and is pregnant with her first calf.  (clapping) I'm super excited, but I have some worries because no one (my breeder, my Ag teachers, my cattle showing buddies) can agree on what to do when it comes to feeding her. One of my concerns...

    Steers

Hello, I have a few questions regarding steers, preferabley Red Angus, and I would much appreciate your opinion/answer. 1A. How old should a steer be at show? 1B. At what age (on average)would you say a Red Angus steer finishes at? 2. What is a good Red Angus steer producing sire? 3. What Red...

    State Fair Results!

I think I want to breed her to a breed that adds middle/guts, and gets her calves a bit less club-y. That's why I'm not 100% on Rumor Mill. What are opinions on Beef Maker? Rushmore? I like 'em both, but it makes me nervous to use a Simmi with basically no knowledge on the breed. Thanks in...

    State Fair Results!

Haven't bred her yet. She is an October of '12 calf. She just turned a year a few days ago. We aren't going to breed her until December. I have no real idea of who to breed her to, I might use Rumor Mill, but I'm not 100% sure.

    State Fair Results!

I just want to share my most recent success. We got 3rd out of 14 heifers. It was the biggest ORB class. She's an Eye Candy X Char/Chi. We have changed her feeding from 24 pounds of sweet feed a day with 3 pounds of Beet Pulp to 12 pounds sweet feed a day, 3 pounds of Beet Pulp, 3 pounds of...

    Chi Heifer- Opinions?

Just to give an update, this heifer is turning out to be AWESOME. She's a bit over 10 months now and I have to say I'm really excited to see her when she's fully mature. She has deepened in her fore rib as well as her flank (no more "v" belly), and is super feminine. She is stout, although she...

    Breeding A First-Calf Heifer

Hey y'all! <cowboy> I have an Eye Candy X Char/Chi heifer who I will be breeding in November. This will be her first calf, so calving ease is a must. She is structurally sound (*ALMOST* flawless), but needs more middle (daggum it!). I would like the calf to be able to be registered as something...

    Show Steer Help

I have a job.. I'm a lifeguard at a neighborhood pool. I get paid minimum wage, but I only work a little bit because of Child Labor Laws. And yes, this is begging, but at least I really am trying.
