For me personally I'd rather get the calf to a good home moreso than to the highest bidder, unless you know they do a good job.  As a current college student that only sells several steers a year I'd love to be shoveling in the outrageous prices some people get for less than average calves but...

I cant imagine a FULL refund would be a fair deal to the breeder, they most likely didnt know the heifer wouldnt breed.  I think a pretty fair trade off would be selling you an equal quality heifer at market price. This way it offsets the cost of the faulty heifer and you get what you originally...

Are you watching him eat, if they're all eating out of the same bunk he may be getting rooted out by bigger calves.  I used to feed calves like that seperately to ensure they were getting their fair share.  You might also want to limit the hay consumption, he may be tanking up on the hay and...
