If you could say anything about livestock

It may be a regional thing as far as the "hick" or "redneck" stereotype goes. Do you guys feel that showing is improving the quality and safety of our beef? I know that the majority of meat comes from feedlot cattle, but do you think showing and the improvement of genetics helps the industry as...

If you could say anything about livestock

What do you think about the stereotype about it being "hicks" that show, and the animal cruelty remarks we so often get at shows?

If you could say anything about livestock

I am doing an informative speech to my college class over livestock showing. I figured I would hit on some basics, why we do, how we do etc, and maybe some figures etc. I was wondering, if you could inform people who know nothing about showing or livestock, what would it be? Its only a five...

    Oh boy

The goat (Cletus) is a sucker and will untie the steers if you don't watch him. That's how big boy was able to lie down.

    Need fat

They are great steers but finish will make them even better. Do you think that it will help in the like 6 weeks I have left? And is stablized and rice bran the same? I saw rice bran at the feed store, but I have seen stablized at TSC

Not cattle, but still in need of advise- Equine

I have had the mare for about 6 years..which would actually put her at 15. The gelding about 4 years now. I have never had issues with them. I wormed them with a strong dose of ivermectin, I had gottena bit behind with it. I also started feeding them rice bran, and the mare gets a liquid...

Not cattle, but still in need of advise- Equine

I have three horses. A 12 year old paint mare, a 18 year old arabian gelding and a 28 year old QH gelding. The paint and the quarter have lost a large amount of weight. They look pitiful. There diets have not changed. They get fed, and are taken care of. But obviously not everyone knows that...

    ~~Hard Core~~

One of my steers last year was a hardcore calf. He had the leg none hair structure and frame to be great. However he grew up to tall too fast I could never catch  him back up to where he needed to be. Now that could have been just the calf, or his sire or dam or a combo of all three.

    Any goat showers out there?

I started out showing livestock with goats when I was 11. I loved it and still do. I show in GA. and when I started we never braced. That is a lamb showing trait and I have never liked it.but now everyone is bracing. Is there any other goat showers out here? Whats your thoughts on this?

    Hay prices

In GA I am getting some nice sized square bales for 5-6 dollars. The most I have paid for a round bale was 50, but it was really good hay that my horses devoured. Its a little rough down here, but not near as bad as it is in other places, so I'm not complaining
