    What Simmental Bull to use?

    Broker calves are pretty good across the board...That bullseye bull from Werning cattle is good. Anything from the lock and load x kp 8543u cow is dang good!

    Winter calving advice

    Just remember one thing and you will be fine, claves can be born wet or they can be born in the cold but they can't be born cold and wet. Get them dry and I would rather have them running around on the clean snow than in the mud.

    Beef maker vs Red Iron....Beef maker seems to have a slight edge in the epd category, but red Iron seems to be right there with him in a smaller frame?? Anybody use them both that cares to compare calves?

    That is probabaly right. I forgot about the "A" and "B" thing. I did breed some red heifers a few years ago to a Black bull, Mytty in focus, and the heifers I kept they have listed as category 2. I had some red calves out of those heifers now that are back to category 1A.

    If you put a Registered Black angus bull on a red angus cow and the resulting calf is black it is registered as 100% angus and put in category 2 because it has a category 1 disqualifier being black hided. The calf will however be a red gene carrier and any resulting offspring that comes out red...
